A few years ago we did a huge house renovation and doubled our living space with a full basement.
Now that I write that out, that sounds like the big thing. But really my point was every since we became a 2-floor house, I have noticed so many small things that remind me to be grateful.
It feels incredibly indulgent to have two sets of cleaning products – one for upstairs, one for downstairs. Two stashes of rags and disinfecting spray. Two bottles of commonly used medicine. Two stashes of tissue boxes.
Perhaps there are some that can’t relate to this gratitude over the novelty of plenty – so much that I can spread my resources out across the house. But there have been times in my life where that wasn’t possible. Also times where it was possible but I did not recognize it or appreciate it.
I’m reminded of this today because we are running low on shampoo and conditioner in our “main” bathroom downstairs. Luckily, I still had a bottle of each in the upstairs bathroom from when Tom quarantined after his brother’s wedding. And poof! Just like magic, not out of shampoo or conditioner.
