Once Upon A Time

There was a girl who grew up in Chicago and spent her summers with her grandparents at a cabin on a lake near Eagle River, Wisconsin.

She always dreamed of living in that cabin year-round. Sometimes she wanted to live there because she wanted to stay with her grandparents (although they only lived there in the summer). And sometimes she longed for a place that was a fresh start – away from her current worries and concerns.

But mostly, she dreamed of the quiet. To be alone but not lonely. To have less people around and more nature.

After kissing several princes – some might be judgey and say too many princes but this story is not for them so please move along – she kissed someone who made her feel as calm and quiet as that wonderful cabin.

So they moved there and lived happily* ever after.

*Happily still means the roof leaks and the cat dies and the bank account is scraping at pennies. Happily still means she wakes up and dreads work some days. Happily hasn’t stopped her from sometimes being unable to sleep because her mind won’t stop telling her she’s a horrible person for that one thing she did in 3rd grade. Happily means that all of that happens and she no longer daydreams of living somewhere else with someone else doing something else.

She got that part figured out. It’s the rest of this clusterfcuk called life she is still working on.
